Effects of Balance Control on Physical Performance of Elderly Women

Abstract
Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of balance control on physical performance of elderly
women.

Methods: 56 healthy individuals(18 elderly group, 18 elderly exercise group, 18 young group) were participated this study. Elderly women aged 65 to 75 years and young women aged 20 to 25 years participated in this study. Subjects were measured physical functional test(ankle joint ROM, SPPB, BBS TUG). All the data were expressed means and standard deviation by using SPSS package program with a significance level of 0.05.

Results: Elderly women of ankle ROM were showed significant decreased than young women. 20s and elderly exercise groups of SPPB score were showed significant higher than elderly group. BBS point was showed a significant more decreased in elderly women group than 20s and elderly exercise groups. Elderly and elderly exercise groups of TUG time were showed a significant more increased than 20s group. Score of physical performance showed significant correlated between physical performance and balance parameters were observed.

Conclusion: The study has shown that balance control was effected from health condition of elderly exercise group.
